The twins are at their very last hour and a half of school right now and I have serious mixed emotions. I love summer and the change of pace and letting my kids just be kids but this has been such a wonderful school year because of the twin's teacher that I'm really sad to see it go. Miss Udy has been amazing and we have become really close throughout the year... I know we'll keep in touch but I will miss the constant interaction. What teacher comes to her student's swim meets and baseball games? She loves my kids and she loves her job and I feel so blessed. So what do you get the most amazing teacher as a token of your appreciation? I love it when I find the perfect gift... I searched long and hard and I think I found it. This is from www.thesilverlime.com and if anyone is looking for a special, personalized gift for anyone, this is the place to find it. I also had a small silver circle added to it that had the twin's and Miss Udy's initials engraved on it. I met the owner of The Silver Lime at the Women of Steel Tri. She competed in the tri and she had a booth set up there. She was so nice and I told her about the necklace I ordered and how excited I was to give it to her and she told me to be sure and tell her how it went. The necklace came with this story:
"A young man walking on a long stretch of oceanside beach encountered an older man who was scurrying about through the surf retrieving starfish and, with a flourish, throwing them back out into the sea. He hurried back and forth in what seemed to be a frantic activity. The young man inquired of the old man as he threw another starfish, "sir, why are you running about throwing those starfish back out to sea? There must be thousands of them and there are miles of beach in this area. How can it help? What difference does it make?"
The old man paused thoughtfully as he prepared to throw another starfish and then replied, "It will make a difference to this one." And he threw it back into the sea. -Anonymous"
The twins gave it to her yesterday and they said she cried when she read the story, cried when she saw the necklace and then cried when Sayer showed her the circle with their initials on it. She sent home the nicest letter to me with the twins that made me cry (and made Sean cry). Sayer said, "Mom, I might have some really great teachers from now on but Miss Udy will always be my very favorite and I'll always love her." So sweet. I feel so blessed that she has, and will be, a part of our lives.

So for whatever reason, my "blog roll" said you haven't updated your blog in like 5 months, but yet... there are all these posts! Weird. I noticed though you're finally under the "less than 100 days!" Yeah! 99 to go! We're so excited for you! You look very cute pregnant. I haven't seen you preggo before... just thought I'd let you know and been thinking about you lots! Love you!
That is such a sweet necklace - I will have to check out her site - how are you feeling?
Mike wanted to make sure I told you when we're coming to town so we could see your belly!!! :) Are you around sometime between July 1-7??
What a perfect gift! So sweet. And Ava---I mean Carla's comments crack me up!
Isn't it incredible how a teacher can impact a child's life? I loved the story and the necklace. What a perfect gift! You are one lucky mom to have such a wonderful, caring person to share a year in the life of your kids.
I just went and visited my 5th grade teacher ...Miss Mitchell. Isn't it amazing after all these years we are in touch and even going to do lunch this summer. I'm sure your twins will always remember and stay in touch with their special teacher.
