Signs

A friend shared this blog post with me and I loved it.  It really made me think and I really, really want to try to be more kind to others.  We never, never know what someone is going through.  Nine days ago, we found out that our friend's 23 year old son took his own life.  It's been such a sad, and reflective time.  Just imagining what this family has been going through is heartbreaking.

I was surprised and a bit shocked when I walked into the Primary room today after Sacrament meeting to see our friend sitting in there on a chair, waiting to be a substitute teacher for one of our little classes.  There he was in his white shirt, tie and suit and looked like every other brother there. If you weren't aware of the situation, you would never guess that his sign would read, "buried my son on Wednesday."

Oh, I hope that we can all be more gentle with each other and not judge.  I love a line from one of my favorite Hymns, "Lord, I Would Follow Thee" that says, "In the quiet heart is hidden, sorrow that the eye can't see."  I hope that I can realize and remember more that so many have sorrows in their quiet hearts.  Grateful for the lessons learned.
