Farewells

On Sunday, the 27th, I was released from my calling as Gospel Doctrine teacher. I had had that calling for nearly 2 years. I know this may sound crazy, but I am really going to miss it. I know I should be doing it on my own anyway, but it was so great to really study and to just get lost in the scriptures and learn one new thing after another. I learned a lot and it was a great experience... one I am truly grateful for. I was called to be a Sunbeam teacher and I am actually Ava's teacher. I am so excited about that. I told Ava on Saturday (I know I broke the rules, but hey, she's 3 :) ) that I was going to be her teacher and she responded by asking, "So who's going to be my mom?" I team teach with Sister Dowdle who Ava calls "Sister Doodle" (I won't tell Sister Dowdle). It will be a complete change of pace but I am really looking forward to it.

Our dear Prophet, Gordon B. Hinckley died on Sunday, January 27th at the age of 97. We were over at my parent's house and getting ready to leave. My mom was on the phone with my Aunt Lucille when I heard her say, "President Hinckley died?" Sayer heard her and got a concerned look on her face and looked over at me and started crying. I told her it was ok and we can be sad for us but happy for him. She was so cute. As soon as we got home she found a laminated picture we have of him and put it up on a shelf in her bedroom. I will really miss President Hinckley, it just won't be the same without him. I am so thankful for the example he has been to my children... I know they will never forget him. I am in awe of all that he has been able to accomplish throughout his life. He is truly amazing. I can only imagine the reunion that took place on the other side. I am so happy that he is with his wife, never to be parted again. I am so thankful for his example and words of encouragement. He is so loved and will be deeply missed.

It was so sad about President Hinckley but you're right I'm sure he is so happy to be with his wife again.

I use my blog as a pseudo-journal too - it's better nothing!

I hope all is well and can you tell me the name of those jeans again - I totally forgot - was it Jo Jeans? Terrific news on the new calling - I got one too - but not as fun as yours!!!! Ward Choir Director! Yikes

Take care!
