It's a boy!!!

We found out on April 15th that we are having a boy!!! It was so fun. We had all the kids with us since they were out of school for Spring Break and drove to the hospital in a blizzard. The ultrasound tech took all the measurements and I was a little nervous that maybe the baby wouldn't cooperate and wouldn't show us what it was. Well, no need to worry, he had his legs spread wide open and there was no doubt! When the perinatologist came in and looked at the picture, he said, "Yep! 200% boy!" We saw Dr. Ball, who I saw with the twins at LDS 9 years ago. He is great. He looked at all of the tech's pictures and looked around for a while and then said, "I think you're at really high risk for having a healthy baby." I will take that "high risk"! The baby looked perfect and was measuring three days big so that is good too. But, me being me, they wouldn't be able to send me away from the hospital without something to worry about. The placenta is positioned right over my C-section scar which will make for a tricky C-section delivery. It also puts me at high risk for a condition called Placenta Accreta (I had never heard of it... you learn something new every day.) Placenta Accreta is when the placenta embeds itself into the uterus and doesn't detatch at the proper time. The worse case scenario would be a hysterectomy right then and there (which is a whole lot better than bleeding to death). So we will see... my doctors have always told me that a hysterectomy is pretty much inevitable so this just might save me a surgery a few years down the road. I see my OB next week so I'm anxious to see what he has to say about things. He is an amazing surgeon and they will watch things closely so I'm not too worried. But, yay, a boy!!!!
