Changes

In September, Sean was released as the first counselor of the bishopric.  He had had that calling for almost four and a half years.  The stake president met with us the week before to tell us what would take place.  To say I had mixed feelings about him being released was a huge understatement.  On one hand, I was glad that he would be home more often, and that he would be able to help on Sunday mornings and sit by me in church.  But on the other hand, I had become so used to doing my own thing and had such a groove going, I was worried that Sean might get in the way! (as weird as that sounds)  I also LOVED the fact that he was working with such great men like our bishop and the 2nd counselor.  I loved that he was given the opportunity to serve so many and serve so often and I KNOW our family has been so blessed because of it.

When we met with the stake president, he told me that my days of sitting alone at church aren't over.  I thought, "Well, ya, I'm sure some other time in my lifetime, Sean would have another calling that would take him away."  Little did I know that our stake president had some plans already brewing.  We got a call the week after he was released to meet with the stake presidency.  We met with all three of them and the 1st counselor asked me what my calling was.  When I told them I was the 2nd counselor of the Primary Presidency, I saw them all visibly wince.  Then when we told them the ages of our children... another wince.  Then they told Sean that they would like him to serve on the High Council.  They told me that I could ask to be released and they would stand behind me.  I'm happy for Sean and I'm happy for our family.  I just felt kind of lost without Sean being in the Bishopric, I know it's strange but that's how I felt.  I'm going to TRY to keep plugging along with my calling.  It is so demanding but I know I can do it with Heavenly Father's help.  So the funny thing is, the next week was General Conference and then the week after that is when they set Sean apart, so I got one week of him all to myself and that was it.  The new bishopric told us after the fact that the stake president told them not to touch Sean, that they had plans for him.  So, I've already noticed that Sean is around more and he can at least sit by me in Sacrament meeting on some Sundays.  He is still quite busy but it is more sporadic, and not quite as structured as Bishopric.  It is so good for our family and I know Heavenly Father will bless us and I'm grateful for that!
