On the 18th of October, Hayes had to have a little surgery. Let's just say it was a revision of sorts. (: We had it done at the new Primary Children's at Riverton Hospital. It was so nice and ran like clockwork. I loved the staff and it was just an all around good experience. His surgeon, Dr. Snow, was so great. After they did the physical and got him in his jammies, they have all the patients go to this little waiting room with toys and games. Hayes was in heaven! They had neat toys for him to play with and cars to drive, etc. A little boy came in that was about his age and he was riding in a little toy car. Hayes walked right up to him and said, "HI!" He thought he was on the welcoming committee. The anesthesiologist came and got him and that was probably the hardest part, Hayes walking down the hall with the anesthesiologist one way and Sean and I walking the other way. He was only in surgery for about a half an hour and they came and got us and took us to a consult room. Dr. Snow met with us there and told us everything went great. He said they would be coming to get one of us soon to be with Hayes when he woke up. As soon as the nurse came in, I practically jumped out of my chair. I couldn't wait to see him. He was SOOO CUTE! Still so sleepy but he opened his eyes for a second and then snuggled. (He is my least snuggly baby so you better believe I took full advantage of the general anesthesia and got some serious snuggling in!) The nurses in recovery told me that when he first woke up, he just looked around and then put out his arms to be held. They kept saying they wished all the kids would wake up that good. They moved us to another recovery area and Sean got to come in as well. He was a little mad when he started waking up more, but for the most part, such a good boy! They were giving him some slushies and he loved them and his lips were stained red. When we got him home, he slept for quite a while that first day. I thought that he would just want to snuggle all day for the first few days and I was really looking forward to it, but not Hayes, by the second day, he was up and running. He did so well and I'm just so glad to have it behind us. It stressed me out a lot and I'm just glad it's over. He was so cute and such a good boy throughout the whole thing. I love that baby!
